The concentration of salt and warm temperatures, combine to endow Guardamar and nearby areas with a particularly healthy micro-climate, recommended by doctors for its beneficial properties.

Bathing in the salt lagoons is also becoming popular for many medicinal reasons. The climate in Guardamar makes it an ideal location for year round holiday activities, especially if you want to fulfil that yearning for some sunshine during those dreary winter months in the UK.

Many people prefer the months when the weather can be near perfect in April, May, June, September, October and November. As well as admiring the boats in the marina, we were able to watch the local fishermen unloading their catch alongside the fish market all within 15 minutes.

No crowds, no noise, just perfect peace and quiet, it was great. The Halifax bank in Guardamar, known as the Banco Halifax Hispania was opened in and obviously attracts huge numbers of English-speaking people. Where's Guardamar?

The setting is one of the most unique scenes in the Land of Valencia, with an original combination of extensive coastal dunes protected by a verdant forest, fertile fields and orchards and the omnipresent beach and the Mediterranean sea. Good parking. Easy base to explore the region.

The hotel says it has a spa on booking, but it doesn't. Only jacuzzi on roof top, no sauna and no massage centre, swimming pool is on other side of the street. Everything is great. The best times of year to visit are probably October and May as they are outside of the holiday season yet are very warm but the beaches and resorts are less crowded.

Guardamar offers you every possible sea sport such as sailing, windsurfing, water-skiing, underwater diving, canoeing, jet skiing. The Marina de las Dunas at the mouth of the river offers all these as well as almost moorings. You can spend your whole holiday in Guardamar enjoying the beaches, restaurants and cafe lifestyle but if you want to explore the Costa Blanca then there are some short day trips outside of Guardamar that are worth seeing such as Torrevieja which is very similar to Guardamar but it has the Habaneras shopping centre.

However, the prices are reasonable, there are plenty of traditional bars and eateries, the beach is beautiful, everywhere is very clean and the vibe is much more traditional.

You might need to try your Spanish a bit more but you will find it well worth a visit. Just a vibrant, happy and clean town. Beaches are awesome and the dunes parks are brilliant for dog walking. The food was of a good quality and we enjoyed mingling with the mainly Spanish people.

Fun fair in park was aimed at small children but still good to walk round. I loved everything about it. A small resort beautifully maintained with a long, white, sandy beach. The local people were very friendly and helpful. Lovely restaurants. Would recommend a restaurant called Svarog, if you like to have a vegan option offered alongside the very nice regular menus.

No drunkenness or rowdiness to be seen. Lovely parks with walks and pond wildlife. The beautiful peacocks are a real feature. Excellant big clean sandy beaches, either right in town or out by the pine dunes. Plenty of bars and restaurants to suit all tastes.

Has a feel of a Spanish resort Well placed for car trips to cities and inland towns by the great road system. Very nice beach and adjoining cafes. Nothing else to do around. When there are waves you can only go for 20m to the sea. Excellent municipal support on the beach for first aid and emergencies. Cafes are cheap 3euros for two cafes with tapas! The hotel staff are always there to help, very friendly and the breakfast included, makes this a perfect hotel for those who are on the move all day and enjoy a lie in.

The hotel is literally a stones throw from the beach, which is kept clean and tidy at all times. Lovely location. Sea view rooms with sun most of the day if facing towards La Mata. Beautiful beach for miles.

Guadamar is more Spanish than most Costa Blanca resorts and all the better for it!

Lovely clean hotel. Great value for half board. Lovely beach bar at entrance to the beach. Good parking. Easy base to explore the region. The hotel says it has a spa on booking, but it doesn't.

Only jacuzzi on roof top, no sauna and no massage centre, swimming pool is on other side of the street. Everything is great.

We cannot say anything bad about this hotel. The food is amazing. Good clean apartment, pity they had to be so cheap and charge for damage that was not down to us. It was close to all amenities, all staff were very friendly, and the hotel was spotless.

Guardamar, on the Costa Blanca, in Spain, is surrounded by two large and beautiful natural salt water lakes which form the "Salinas de Guardamar" and are an official Spanish Nature Reserve. These lakes attract a wide variety of bird life. Guardamar has learned a few lessons from places like Benidorm, because you'll find no high-rise skyscrapers or package holiday hotels in Guardamar and because Guardamar is orientated towards families and couples, you'll find no night-time trouble with lager louts etc.

It still retains that special "Spanish" feel and is in a relaxed environment.
