Robbed of excess even with no damage on return, damage on car when collected had mysteriously disappeared? I have excess insurance so will be reimbursed, however, hire at your peril.
There are enough warnings on this forum and elsewhere about poor car rental companies and enough recommendations for good, reputable car rental companies yet people do their research after they have had a bad experience. Update: Managed to get online The first one, was cancelled on 27th March with the refund being received immediately in my credit card account.
However, I am still waiting the refund of the other, cancelled on 11th April. This is despite two e-mails sent to customer services on 26th April and 13th May A complaint has been raised mid-May with my credit card company about the missing refund but I have been told, it will take six weeks before I get any communication from them about this. I cancelled my booking over a week ago and have not received anything from Centauro.
I have been booking with Centauro for years now, voucher no. I had to cancel due to the covid I received an email stating that they had issued credit points on my account, I contacted their call centre who speak excellent English and they informed me that they had received my email and already processed the refund!
Excellent service - will continue to use this company as soon as i can travel back. Recently, due to Coronavirus, l had to cancel 3 car rentals with Centauro and was given vouchers by means of Gold Points instead of refunds - along with many companies under pressure in this pandemic. I twice used the email form on their website to request a refund to which I thought there was no reply so I finally phoned them.
The lady I spoke to was very efficient and understanding and processed the refunds straight away. Also, they had answered my emails, but the replies had gone to my 'junk mail'.
Centauro has always been our 'go to' car rental company and l was very relieved that they remain the most honest company we have ever used.

Not this time, have made three attempts to contact you and all I get is booking has be3n cancelled but no refund, nothing for over two weeks. Very poor especially as we have been renting cars from you for 7 years and have always recommended you to others for renting cars in Spain. So disappointed in the complete lack of service this time. I have emailed them many times requesting they refund my 2 bookings but they have so far failed to contact me or refund the cancelled bookings. Do not pay up front for your rental car as I did. Suffered a double blow out caused simply by clipping the edje of a road while avoiding an on coming vehicle on a country road in spain. As the car obviously only had one spare wheel i phoned their roadside assistance, who insisted the car would have to be taken back to malaga and due to covid19 I would have to have a taxi and could not ride in the pickup vehicle, they would not tell me how much thi will cot untill I arrived back in malaga where they claimed "conveniently" it came to the maximum excess of , yes very convieniently it came to EXACTLY this figure, for a start the taxi fayre was euros, which when i booked a taxi a few days later for the same journey was only 70 euros and the tow truck at euros has to be an exagerated figure, it is clear that the recovery company work in conjunction with centauro to over charge, or centauro add whatever fee they feel like to take as much money as they can from a customer, they also added a fee for so called "damage" to the interior, most of which was just dust and some small scratches less than 4cm long.
They now won't provide an invoice until I make payment, it is standard business practice to give someone an invoice if you wish them to pay, I can't submit a claim to my insurance company for these alleged fee's until i get an invoice, so looks like we will fight this in court. This is the 3rd time I leave a comment here. No way to get a refund after cancellation. It is stated in your rental conditions! I have already try to connect to my personal account and there is no possibility of claim.
