Sant Elm is a simple holiday resort with 2 sandy beaches and a main street with restaurants. There are several interesting walks in the surrounding hills and places were you can hire activity equipment. There are is a regular bus service to the nearby market Wednesday and you can reach several other resorts along that coast.
The local taxi service is reliable not too expensive. Nice little town. Can highly recommend a trip to Sa Dragonera on the boat, the view from the top of the hill is well worth the effort. Great to e able to jump in the sea after a hot days walking as well. Beach is clean and in late September is not to crowded and the sea is still warm. The sunsets are fantastic. We have visited Sant Telm for over 40 years and it is still quanint and unspoilt.
Part of the French traditional part of the island with market towns across the Tramjntana hills. National Park and Dragoneta island perfect for walking and cycling. Sandy beach that has a soft gradient for young children. Wide choice of local restaurants and family run bars with pedestrianised beach front. Fabulous unspoilt resort with lovely views.
Only downside was was jellyfish in the sea and no ATMs in the village! We tried to find the one in S'Arraco but to be quite honest it's best to go to Port Andraxt as there's lots of ATMs there and we did a quick booze and snack shop at the supermarket near the front - that was it! There are two other walks to either end of the island which are flat. The village has lots of restaurants, mainly higher end with some snack bars and cafes.
We liked Stefano's for a snack lunch. Some nice little shops and a couple of smaller supermarkets too. St Elm is difficult to get to without a transfer or a hire car from Palma airport but the cost of a hire car will easily cover the cost of a transfer.
Free parking next to the main car park opposite the beach which charges 4 euros a day but closes at night altho' the gate was always open. Parking on the streets as well but none at the Hotel Aquamarin where we stayed. Can highly recommend the hotel for a relaxing couples weekend.
Families I would recommend to go to the Don Camillo apartments just a bit further up from the Aquamarin as they have a lovely pool there and lots of grass to sunbathe on. Very close to the beach too. Nice tranquil place for families or older travellers. Jellyfish on the beach every day, but fellow beach goers fished them out, so you could enter.
Good small resort with safe sandy beach for families, boat trips to Dragonera island and a hikers paradise. Ideal for those who hate mass package tourism. No proper supermarket, only expensive mini markets, so stock up before you arrive. Great meals at San Telmo Chips, just past the harbour. Good local bus service. A great location and a fabulous resort.
Excellent food, very good value and very welcoming staff. The hotel manager made a point to welcome us on arrival. The beach and swimming area are perfect too.
