They scam you with low initial prices and then try to sell you waiver cover at the desk. If you don't take it, when you hand the car back they go over it in MINUTE detail until they find a tiny scrape or pit in the body work that's not on the scratch sheet.
I paid euros for a pinprick in the passenger door. This particular branch of this particular company are thieves and no doubt about it. I used them a few years ago. Never again,. We could afford the Euro21 for priority queue, which was well worth it as at the airport the priority Q was 1 person long when my hubby joined it, wheras the other queue snaked around the baggage area. So we were dealt with within 5 or 10 minutes - and given the keys to a Citroen C4 Picasso with aircon and satnav.

The drop off we were seen quickly. The car seat hired was of good quality. Cons: The time to pick up the car was very long with a queuing system in place. There were also additional costs added over and above that quoted by Discover Car Hire. The amount quoted to be paid at pickup was significantly lower than what was charged. Cons: The service was awful during pick up.
This is not acceptable. I am unlikely to use this firm again. Cons: The hire company Recordgo were very poor. Had to wait well over an hour to be seen at Palma airport they operate a supermarket meat counter ticket system!!! I was then charged a 27 euros for some kind of admin fee on top of what I had already paid that I was not made aware of?!. On returning the car they tried to pin some old damage to the car on me before capitulating?!
The car ran well but was under powered for its size. Regards M. Pros: Very unhelpful at desk and assistant was rude. Only wanted to charge nearly double the online quote.
Would never use again. Cons: No customer care, rude, obtuse and only interested in adding on additional charges which nearly doubled the original quoted online price. Cons: Pressured sales of extras, I felt tired after my flight then had to wait in a long queue so was in a rush to get the car. I ended out paying far more money than the initial booking cost. Cons: RecordGo did not refund my fuel deposit despite the car being returned with a full tank. This was confirmed with staff at the time.
Pros: Only had to wait in the queue at the airport for 1 hour. Cons: They didn't honour my rental agreement. Refused to accept my booking confirmation. Cons: personeel manier van handelen bij ophalen en bij afleveren van de wagen. Cons: The price was so much higher when I got there.
The line was so long and I paid 50 euro to expedite. Pros: Company's policy is terrible. I waited 2 hours to collect my car. If I wanted it quicker I had to pay 50 Euros more. Cons: The service was extremely slow. There were 2 coke cans left in the car and 3 areas of damage when I finally got it. Cons: One hour wait wait to see a representative at desk, THEN 15 mins more wait as no car was ready. Petrol tank was not full - told I had to change the car with a long wait if I did so or lose out on the amount it was away from full up.
Pros: A very friendly and polite gentleman from the same company sorted out car hire following the very rude aggressive man that we were forced to walk away from. Car was in good condition and very clean. Cons: What a rip off. I have rented cars hundreds of times in many countries and never been stitched up with such huge hidden charges!!
We asked to take the quote away to consider and the man quickly ripped it up and theatened to call security An obvious sign we were being ripped off! Cons: We booked fully comprehensive cover with yourselves, but on arrival were advised by Record and Go that this was worthless, and would not cover us in practice.
It's very poor to have such bad link between yourself and the rental company, and made the whole experience stressful and indeed like a scam. Cons: Understaffed, had to wait in queue of 40 people to get car. During busy times plan about 2 hours get your car. Returns also understaffed and takes at least 30 minutes. Cons: Complete con! Very unsympathetic staff too. Pros: Nice range of vehicles, good condition apart from damage by other users.
But acceptable to use. Also having the upsell at check In desk for extended cover. Cons: The car provided was all covered in scratches, had some stone chips, dent and a massive scuff on one side of the car.
It is not hard to imagine that I was not too impressed. When pickin up the car I had to pay extra for the fuel tank and service and refuling. I was told that these charges are going to be returend, if the the car comes back with the tank full. I did what they asked me for, but the refuling charge was not returned.
I had refulled the car to the max on the nearest petrol station. Cons: Would have preferred it if on collection of car they walked round it with you and pointed out damage as well as giving you a diagram. Cars are parked in a very dark area and not easy to examine. Cons: I had to wait for 45 minutes to pick up the car at the airport, while my children and disabled mother were waiting.
Pros: they seem relative pragmatic in respect of small scratches on the cars. Cons: too long queue at the pick-up and you had to queue up twice to get the key as well. Cons: We waited 45 minutes for our ticket number to be called. Cons: Hidden fuel charge of 31 euro which is not clear at time of booking only when you pick the car up.
Cons: Ripped off! The cost was originally advertisde as 40euros for 4 days. However once I went to collect the car many charges were then piled on which were not expected or explained at the time of bookning. Total price euros!! Total scam. And the car was parked in the wrong place so took ages to find late at night. Every other customer at the desk was having the same dreadful experience. Cons: Long wait at the service desks, complicated contractual arrangements.
Cons: Nothing realy just a little wait getting the car checked over. Cons: The queue for Record-Go at Palma airport was 31 deep, which would have meant waiting over 3h at the rate they were handling customers. Cons: Had to wait too long both to collect and to drop off car. Pros: relatively quick ,but this industry must stop forcing constant upsell insurances on us. Give us a price and stick to it. Cons: car was dirty and unwashed , it also was missing all 4 wheel trims.
Pros: Used them many times and are generally hassle free. Once you explain you have an Excess insurance policy they don't pressure you to take their insurance. Cons: On this occasion we had a long wait in the terminal to get the paper work done. Not many people on the desk, then computer issues. Wait was probably around 45 minutes. Cons: Had to wait for someone to check car after drop off.
Cons: not Record-go, location of rental cars and inadequate signage from arrivals. Pros: Price and friendliness of representative dealing with us. Cons: Child seat provided was damaged and had to change 3 times. Pros: On terminal pick up Quick and efficient on pick up and drop off. Pros: Car was good and actual car hire was cheap. Cons: Collection desk in airport was a little slow, but service when served was excellent, and in English.
Pros: Everything. Speed of getting away, both on collection and drop off and them not trying to sell me everything to go with it.
Cons: We didn't realise that we had to attend the desk prior to going across to where the cars were so a longer walk back, but probably our mistake. Cons: It wasn't clear when booked online that there would be another euros to pay for insurance!
Cons: No one informed us that the car needed to be taken back to a specific area of recordgo. Not particularly a problem- just had to re-park the car. I waited for an hour to get to the desk, despite having booked the rental in advance. Then I had to wait to drop it off. After waiting an hour I was given rude treatment by the clerk. When dropping off the vehicle I was again obliged to wait. Unbelievably poor service.
Cons: Check out service was terrible. Waited for just over 2 hours to receive car and leave airport. Would not use this company again due to service. Cons: Terrible hidden charges. Cons: I still haven't received the fuel payment on my cc for the full tank. Cons: My 'weclome' at Mallorca airport from Record Go was extremely dissapointing.
At a point in your holiday when you just want to pick up your car and go, Record Go have a ticketting system where you can pay 50EUR to go up the queue. Not nice. Despite booking an automatic car, Record Go claimed not to have any when i got there and triend to insist on giving me a manual car. Eventually after I explained that I can't drive a manual car, they 'found' an automatic for me. Long wait, staff had no details of my online booking so had to go through all of this again, had not reserved car seat requested so had to raise new invoice.
Cons: Absolutely horrible wait at the airport to retrieve and gove back the car. Some people had to scream at the registry people to get a car because they prioritized people who rented a car on place.
Anyone who booked in advance was placed in another ligne that did not move. Cons: Horrible customer service Hidden fees in the small print Would never use them or recommend them to anyone. Pros: Quality car, exactly as expected. They stayed late to meet late arriving flight. Cons: The worth company in the world, if you want to save your nerve cells-never use this company! After refusing we were told they can not give us a car. Stranded in the airport with two children.
Also you are not allowed out of the country and as we were planning on going to Austria we were stuck. The title says it all! This company ripped me off lied and seems to be getting away with it regularly.
A growing number of dissatisfied customers are putting reviews online, which reflect their dishonest trading practices. You book online and your booking says no further charges. When you get to the desk in my case Palma Airport, Majorca , they issue you with a contract in Spanish and take a deposit which they state you will get back as it is for the fuel.
When you return the car they give you a small amount back for the fuel deposit and claim the rest was for an insurance policy. I even showed the lady my policy. If you are wise you will read the growing number of negative reviews and avoid. They obviously think that to get someone to sign a contact in another language is acceptable business practice!
Goldcar used to be the only terminal based carhire company in Palma Airport. Be warned I'm not trolling Avoid Goldcar car hire at all costs. They operate a complete SCAM hiding behind a car hire company. Do not book with them, particularly through the Ryanair car hire webiste. They will charge your credit card for unnecessary and optional insurances that you don't need.
They wont tell you about this and will just charge this to your card, without your authorisation. Avoid being scammed and avoid GoldCar. Like others here, thought I had accessed a reputable car hire company through the Norwegian airlines website. Car was then hidden in an area that would never be found so a 1. Awful way to start the holiday, awful company, awful service and no way of obtaining refund.
