Further, all apartments let out to visitors except visiting family also have to have a licence for the property. I believe the New York city authorities are trying to enact a similar scheme. Part of the reasoning behind the requirement for individual apartments to be licensed is to allow neighbours, who may not want tourists in and out of their apartment building at all hours of day and night.
The licensing process gives neighbours an opportunity to voice their concerns. The authorities here take the issue of unlincensed lettings seriously and have regular crackdowns. Same goes for apartments let by owners through sites such as Craigslist and Loquo. Upfront cost of apartment, say, euros - cost of scanning and emailing licence - zero.
Makes sense to me to ask for sight of operator's licence before parting with money. Obviusly Kiran wants to make us damages although her methods are not completely ethical nor legal. To lie and explain things completely opposite to the reality in order to damage image and reputation of a third is not the right way. We have been renting apartments in Barcelona for more than 7 years and our clients are reasonably satisfated.
It is difficult to understand how we could have success in the market offering the service Kiran explains. About the Haarlson comment he supposes that we don't have licence why? Of course, we have licence. I agree with you Haarlson that there are so many people operating in this business without licence nor a proper, formal and legal organization and that clients should verify first this point.
I agree with you Haarlson that there are so many people operating in this business without licence nor a proper, formal and legal organization and that clients should verify first this point". I did not state that your business does not have a licence to operate - nor did I imply it, or otherwise insinuate such, or otherwise suppose you do not have a licence to operate. I simply advised would-be clients of any and all rental agencies should ask to see a copy of any licences before handing over monies in advance.
I stayed with ApartEasy during the Fall of and had a great experience. The apartment was charming and full of light, there were plenty of towels and sheets, the shower was very small but serviceable. The elevator was also not working at that point, but I sort of assumed the delays were just typically Spanish, since the rest of the world isn't as uptight as we Americans are. Lluis and his staff were responsive to any concerns I had it took a couple of weeks to get the Internet worked out , and they were unfailingly polite, no matter how many times I called and bugged them about it.
Perhaps the situation in this thread was the result of tired, travel-weary people getting off on the wrong foot, or perhaps a disparity in cultural expectations? Would-be renters in Barcelona shouldn't be scared off by this review. Stayed there for a month last year. No problems whatsoever, everything worked as promised.
Towels were clean, so were the rooms. Luis was friendly and helpful, always. Of course, my apologies to Kiran for the errors we may have done in the check-in process.
We have analyzed the case and there are some points we could have done better or quicker. We are already in the process to ensure it will never happen again. But, honestly, this is very different to general Kiran's post.
She says some things that are not acceptable, just completely untrue and so we feel frustated. Honestly, the original poster here has to be lying. I stayed at the Ramblas apartments last year in Sept and Lluis and his staff personally greeted me when I arrived and made sure my stay there was comfortable. I met several people in the building during my month long stay there and everyone was really happy with the setup.
My apartment was clean, all household items were provided and clean and if they were not immediately available all I had to do was ask the owner of the building, who was around all the time making improvements.
It is unfortunate that people will say things that are untrue because they feel they have been treated unfairly. In fact, I'm a travel blogger and my next article is going to be on Barcelona and they are the rental agency I was going to suggest. ApartEasy is a great company. In me and my girlfriend rented an apartment from ApartEasy and everything worked out great. So we decided to extend our stay for several months and I would have to say that we were very happy with that decision.
Everything was clean in the apartment when we arrived and I can't say I had anything to complain about really.. The only thing we lacked was a vacuum cleaner, so we bought one and ApartEasy paid for it without hesitation we did ask first.
I guess if you come from a really upscale place and don't know much about Spain or Catalonia or the world in general perhaps there is a slight chance for disappointment, but even so..
I stayed in Barcelona for half a year and rented an apartment with Aparteasy, right on the Ramblas. During the 6 months Luis and his team were always ready to help us and solved any issue promptly.
They even upgraded the TV on my request and removed a chewing gum someone stuck in the lock. The apartment was pretty nice and well furnished nothing less that they had promised. When suddenly I had to return to Germany they were always helpful and never tried to take advantage of the situation. Log in to get trip updates and message other travelers.
